Titus is at home

Titus is finally at home in the classroom. He has his little heat lamp, and is pretty happy. He was not happy at all when I had to walk from my car into the school... It was very windy. He went nuts and was scrambling all over his cage. Also, the wind was blowing in my direction so the urticating hairs that are left around his cage blew pretty much into my face. You don't get the effect that you would if the hairs were kicked at you, but my nose is very sensitive to the hairs. My siniuses were in pain for the rest of the day, but it was worth it to get Titus settled =] I'm hopeing he will molt soon! I can't wait until this guy gets big!

Technical difficulties

The tank heater is not heating as well as it should... I am going to try a heatlamp over the half of the tank that Titus is not in. Until then he will be staying with my other spiders!

Supper time!

So I decided to try to offer Titus a cricket... So I drop one of my small crickets in his cage, and he snatches it up before it hits the ground! I have heard that these guys are pretty voracious eaters but this is incerdible! About an hour later I was wondering to myself if he could take down one of the big crickets I have for my largest tarantula. It is about as big as he is. So I drop one of those into his cage, and he does the same thing! Wow Titus! See the giant cricket in his mouth?

He arrived!

So the spider finally arrived after 2 days of waiting. He arrived too late to settle him in the classroom, so for the three day weekend he is going to stay at my boyfriend's house with our other two spiders. I transfered him into his new home from the little cup he came in with no problems thankfully! He is FAST though, much faster than my other spider. I decided to name him Titus Tatius, (Although I do not know the gender yet). He's about 2 inches.

Tomorrow

I ordered my tarantula from Michigan Arachnids on Tuesday night and he or she is supposed to arrive on Thurday, weather permitting. So excited! Hopefully I will get some pictures up tomorrow of this wonderful little spiderling.
